The Chennai Metro City Integrated Transport Council has decided on a new transport system for the city!
Presently, Chennai Metro City covers an area of 1189 sq. km. , It has been decided to expand this to an increased area of 5904 sq. km.
The Government Order on this is set to be released shortly!
In this situation, the Comprehensive Mobility Plan for Chennai Metro City was finalized in the year 2019.
With the expansion of Chennai Metro City planned, it has also been decided to review and renew this COMPREHENSIVE MOBILITY PLAN.
As per this, it has been decided to prepare a new Transport System covering 5904 sq km.
As per the National Urban Transport Policy of the Central Government Department of Urban Affairs, this new transport scheme would be prepared for the next 30 years, the important features of this plan:
Greenery:
This new transport system will emit very low carbon levels. Further, air pollution will be minimal and will cause very low noise pollution!
Resilience:
Roads will be highly resilient while encountering Natural disasters such as rain, floods, etc., and great pandemics such as corona.
Accessibility to all:
This new Transport System would be easily accessible to one and all! The roads will be designed to take care of pedestrians, cyclists, and all others!
High-Quality Performance:
The new Transport System will be of excellent quality of performance!
Safety:
This new transport system would have no accidents, and would not harm ensuring a safe and pure environment!
New Efforts:
New Innovative Efforts will be undertaken in this new transport system.
As such, the New Transport Systems will have the above 6 prominent features, The Chennai Integrated Transport Council has decided to prepare the same.
