Superb!! Flight operations at Chennai airport have gone back to pre-Covid times now!!

After turning the entire world upside down, the Coronavirus pandemic has started decreasing  now is known to us. The returning back of normalcy in Chennai has resulted in more flights being operated from the Chennai airport. It is true that the flight operations in Chennai have gone back to pre-Covid times now. Both cargo as well as the passenger flights have resumed their operations now in full flow at this airport with a standard timetable.

As per some sources at the Chennai airport, the flight services in both the above said categories have increased now. It is noteworthy that in the last 2 years from 2020 onwards due to the Coronavirus pandemic the cargo flight services especially were affected badly. Chennai airport cargo department handled more than 1.44lakh tonnes of cargo in 2021 and this was as per some sources in the airport.

Chennai airport handled more than 1.51lakh tonnes of cargo from  April to August 2022 and an increase of 4.6% from 2021. By the end of 2022, the numbers could even go higher. The cargo department has started to operate normally now and due to this the passengers have also increased at the Chennai airport.  The airport in Chennai in August recorded a footfall of 14.62lakh passengers and nearly 10920 flights were operated. In August in 2021, just 6884 flights were operated from here and the footfall was just 7.04lakhs.

The number of flights increased by59% and the footfalls have doubled by 109%. This was revealed by some officers at the Chennai airport. Information is that in 2020 from April to August just 872 flights were operated from the Chennai airport and the footfalls was 23.74lakhs. In this 2022 from April to August as manyas 54777 flights were operated and the footfall was around 71.75 lakhs. It is now confirmed that all the departments belonging to the Chennai airport have started functioning normally now.
