With the EMIS or Educational Management Information System being upgraded now, there would be more transparency in the functioning of the schools across the state of TN. It must be taken into account that EMIS is an online platform that connects several institutions, teachers, students and parents etc .

Point is that many options including the leave application module for teachers and students have been changed. Every day, daily staff profile activities must be loaded. From Monday onwards, this would be implemented. To get clarity among the stakeholders, 16 new modules would be introduced in the EMIS and this was mentioned by a senior officer belonging to the school education department.

Various benefits of ths new module are transparency in the schools functioning and prevention of irregularities regarding regular classes. To prevent proxy attendance, a separate application would be included in the EMIS. Monthly inventory about the schools would be available in the EMIS. With the modifications made in the leave applications, the teachers and non-teaching staff must have a valid reason for availing it. Details about the health aspects of the students would be available in the EMIS and it would be sent to the concerned health officers.

It is learnt that the EMIS would be able to verify the details of any student without Aadhaar and contact number etc. Profiles of both teaching as well as non-teaching staff would also be there in the EMIS. The concerned staff would be able to upload the academic marks of the students from monthly tests till annual exams. As per the norms, events and tours would also be uploaded in the EMIS. Number of reading books and periodicals available in the libraries could be seen in the new system. In addition, EMIS would also have details about the technical infrastructure like availability of computers, laptops and lab facilities etc.
