Here comes an exciting piece of news for the students aspiring to study in the famous Madras University!!
Yesterday, 10th October 2022, University of Madras or MU or Madras University made many heads turn when it introduced the first ever UG degree programme BSc( Blended) Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics a multi major programme in combination with the University of Melbourne in Australia. It is known that till now the university departments have been offering PhD programmes and PG programmes only.
In this new UG programme, as many as 18 students have joined the first batch and they would study the syllabus and resources prepared by the University of Melbourne. To get the BSc (Blended) degree, the students would have to pass the exams that would be organised by the Australian university.
What the students study in the 6 semesters:
It is noteworthy that the students of this new programme would study subjects like physics, chemistry, maths, biology and practicals etc during their first 4 semesters and in the final 2 semesters they would have to choose either physics or chemistry or maths.
This 3 year new BSc Blended programme would be a research oriented one and the students would have to publish their papers during their thesis work. This was as per the MU vice-chancellor S. Gowri madam. She hinted that the students of this new course would be allowed to use the science labs and other facilities and the fees for the course would be Rs 49735.
Providing high quality education at an affordable cost and this was taken into consideration while designing the programme. Through online mode, the Melbourne University faculty persons would be taking classes for the students.
It is superb to note that this new BSc (Blended) degree programme would be recognised across the world as the curriculum is prepared by the University of Melbourne.
