Whats latest regarding the Adyar Eco Park in Chennai that is making amazing news now!!

Previously, the number of visitors who could visit the Adyar Eco Park in Chennai was 60 for each session but now it has been increased to 100. This has now been spoken in huge esteem. Tholkappia Poonga is the other name of this eco park and it is regarded as an ecological landmark in Chennai.

It is noteworthy that the visitors would be allowed here in 4 sessions for walking from 6:30am to 8am in the mornings and then from 4:30pm to 6pm in the evenings. From 2:30pm to 4:30pm in the evenings, guided tours for the general public would be allowed and from 9:30am to 12:30 pm educational tours would be allowed.

From just 3 days per week, the guided tours are now increased for 6 days from Monday to Saturday except on public holidays and entry fee is Rs 20 per head. Rs 10 per head is being charged for the environmental educational programmes of schools and colleges . Except on the public holidays, walking is permitted here on all days.

For one time walking, a person would have to pay Rs 20 and monthly pases for walking would be available for Rs 500 per person and 3 month passes would be available for Rs 1500 per person, 6 month passes for Rs 2500 per person and yearly passes for Rs 5000 per person. There is a 3.2km walking track inside this eco park. It must not be forgotten that in the year 2011 this eco park was opened. Truth is that 58 acres of Adyar estuary was renovated by both TN govt as well as  by CRRT to create Tholkappia Poonga.

The park was regarded as an ecologically sensitive area and hence entry into the park was restricted. In the month of May 2022, the eco park was opened for the public for the first time is known.
