Great news for Chennai Citizens: elevated route from Lighthouse to Guindy soon!!

The Highways Department has decided to construct an elevated highway from Lighthouse (located at the famous Chennai Marina Beach) to Guindy to reduce the acute traffic congestion experienced in Chennai Adyar, Greenways Road, Santhome Main Road, and Gandhi Mandapam.
The elevated highway would cover from Lighthouse, Kutchery Road, Santhome Junction, Pattinappakkam (Foreshore Estate), Greenways Road, Dr Muthulakshmi Park, Adyar, Madhya Kailash, Kotturpuram, Chellammal College, Little Mount (Chinnamalai) and Guindy.
This proposed elevated highway covers a distance of 11 km and a thorough review of the project is already in progress!
As per the survey taken on traffic 4 years ago, it has been decided to link the 2 important locations through an elevated highway.
As there are absolutely no avenues to widen the roads in the above areas, a decision has been taken to construct n elevated highway!
