Air pollution is highly dangerous for health!!.

It is worthy to note that the term air pollution refers to the contamination of indoor as well as outdoor environments by chemical, biological or physical agents leading to changes in the natural characteristics of the atmosphere. There are several sources of air pollution like household combustion devices, motor vehicles, industrial vehicles etc.

The important piece of news is that the festival of deepavali is completed now but the air pollution levels in Chennai city have increased. This was brought out by the Pollution Control Board or PCB.

The deepavali festival was celebrated with huge enthusiasm and happiness in Chennai yesterday. People celebrated the festival wearing new clothes and distributed sweets etc.  After 2 years of fighting against the Coronavirus pandemic, people welcomed deepavali. In the Chennai city, people burst fire crackers and this has resulted in severe pollution across the city.

Yesterday, at around 4pm in the evening, the level of fine particles PM2.5 increased to 192. Earlier, PM 2.5 was at 109 in the city. The air quality now in the city has deteriorated to bad levels and this is worrying many now. In localities like Manali,  Ennore, Royapuram, Adambakkam, Velachery, Perungudi, Kodungaiyur etc the air pollution levels were bad.

It is well known that the TN government has given permission for one hour from 7pm to 8pm in the evening to burst firecrackers but many bursted crackers throughout the day. The PCB has informed that the pollution levels have increased in Chennai but would soon become normal.
