The Grand Kandha Sashti Festival at the Lord Sri Subramania Swami temple in Thirucehndur commenced today (Tuesday, 25th October) with the Divine Yagasaala Poojas!
As soon as the Kandha Sashti festival commenced with Yagasaala Pooja, the devotees wore green attire and started their penance.
As this first day of the Kandha Sashti Festival falls on a day of a partial solar eclipse (25th October, Tuesday), the temple corridors will be closed at 4.00 PM today. The corridors will be opened at 6.45 PM again and the other poojas as per the time will be performed!
The climax event of the Kandha Sashti Festival is the famous `Soora Samharam` event to be performed at the sea coast of the Thirucehndur temple.
After a long break of 2 years due to the coronavirus pandemic, the devotees are allowed to participate this year!
The Kandha Sashti festival commenced in another temple of Lord Moraga as well – Chengalpattu Thirupporur Lord Kandaswamy temple. The event of Soorasamharam is scheduled here on 30th October and the Divine Marriage on 31st October!
