Schools get guidelines for Independence Day events

Guidelines for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations in schools have been sent by the Directorate of School Education. The guidelines call for a host of activities including, exhibitions, tree planting, arts and sports competitions and stage events. After the event, schools will have to send a report on activities that they took up.
Apart from the routine events like the hoisting of the national flag and distribution of sweets, the school education department has called for a concerted effort to spread awareness about the various aspects of the freedom struggle including its history, role of freedom fighters and significance of national flag and national anthem.
