Sensational News!! Real time power consumption can now be monitored by these Chennai residents

All the credit must go to Tangedco or Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited for the launching of a new app to help the T.Nagar residents now!!
This new app would update the energy or power consumption recorded in the smart meters for every 15 minutes. The app will be launched soon.
By this, the T.Nagar residents would be able to view their energy consumption through mobile phones on a real time basis with the installation of smart meters. It is known that Tangedo had installed as many as 1.25lakhs smart meters in T. Ngat under the Smart City Project.
It is learnt that the consumers would be able to keep a track of energy consumption and its pattern. Point to be noted is that when a consumer switches on air-conditioners then he or she would be able to know how much their energy consumption increases. Conservation of energy by the consumers would be possible hereafter as the consumer would know the consumption pattern easily. They would be able to switch off lights and other equipment when not in use.
Consumers face issues regarding wrong billing etc and the smart meters would address these issues of the consumers. Getting re-connections after disconnection due to non-payment of bills would not be an issue also.
According to an official belonging to Tangedco, there are plans to install the smart meters with remote disconnection facilities. He then spoke about how there was no point in installing the smart meters and sending people to disconnect and reconnect the power supply etc. He concluded that if the consumer fails to pay the bill then the power supply would be disconnected automatically.
It is superb to mention here that Tangedco has proposed to extend approximately 3 crores smart meters with prepaid facility to all categories of LT consumers except agricultural and hut services etc.
