Southern Railway Zone officials: Egmore Railway Station renovation project to be expedited!

Southern Railway Zonal Officials have informed that it has been planned to commence the renovation project of the Chennai Egmore Railway Station by the first week of November!
Chennai Egmore Railway Station is one of the most important Railway Stations in Tamil Nadu State. Moreover, it is 114 years old with an attractive and majestic construction and happens to be one of the landmarks in Chennai Metro City.
With the established trend of an increase in passengers, there was a demand for the renovation of this famous old Railway Station.
It was proposed by the Southern Railway to renovate Egmore Railway Station to be a `world-class` Railway Station.
Accepting this proposal, the central Department of Railways then finalized the contract. As such, the Egmore Railway Station Renovation Project will cost Rs. 734.90 Crores and the contract for this project has been awarded to a private concern from Hyderabad by the Southern Railway 2 months ago!
The Railway Officials shared in this regard:
"The contract for the renovation of the Chennai Egmore Railway Station has been awarded to a private concern from Hyderabad. The senior officials from this private concern visited Chennai last week and had a detailed survey on the project!
They have taken the map of Egmore Railway Station and have taken the required measurements It has been decided to commence the renovation project of Egmore Railway Station by the 1st week of November. The project has been scheduled to be completed by 2025!"
