The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed us that there are prospects of a new low-pressure zone developing on 9th November!
In a notification released in this regard by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, it is mentioned:
"There are prospects for a new low-pressure zone to develop over the southwest Bay of Bengal adjacent to Sri Lanka. On 9th November.
This low-pressure format is likely to drift towards Tamil Nadu. The meeting of the easterly and westerly winds may occur and cause the formation of a cyclonic format over the South Andaman Sea.
Due to this, there are prospects for the rain to persist in Chennai for the next 2 days!"
It is informed that there are prospects for heavy rain today (Saturday, 5th November) in the Delta Districts of Tamil Nadu and 16 districts including Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvallur, Thanjavur, Nagappattinam, Thenkasi, Theni, Dindigul, Kanyakumari, and Thoothukkudi.
Right from the onset of the Northeast Monsoon Raina Season, there have been widespread heavy rains in Tamil Nadu. Notably, there have been widespread heavy rains in several districts including Chennai, Thiruvallur, and Kanchipuram.
