There was an uncontrollable crowd at Sabarimala temple yesterday and the devotees had to wait for 6 hours to have darshan. It is known that at the Sabarimala temple mandala poojas are being held now.
Even since the temple walk has been opened for the devotees here on 16th November , the number of devotees coming to the temple has been on the rise. The sensational piece of information is that yesterday on Sunday as many as 80000 devotees had darshan. As Sunday was a holiday, many devotees thronged the place of Lord Swami ayyappan. There was a long queue here yesterday even before the temple walk opened at 3am in the morning.
Those devotees who had reached Sabari Malai before 3am were able to have darshan only after 9am in the morning. More than 65000 devotees have already booked their drashans yesterday and till evening of yesterday more than 55000 devotees had darshan. Toiday, 28th November more than 88000 devotees have got registered for the darshan. Buses, vans and cars were used by many devotees who came from far away places. Even cargo vehicles like trucks and tempos etc were used by many devotees. It is true that when cargo vehicles are used there are more chances of accidents.
The Kerala State Motor Vehicle dept has given strict instructions regarding the devotees using cargo vehicles etc and any violation would be dealt severely. Information is that autos and 2-wheelers etc operating in districts other than Pathanamthitta are prohibited from going to Sabarimala.
