Is it possible to score 43 runs of 7 consecutive balls? Yes, it`s possible!!
Smashing seven consecutive balls in a single over (including a no ball) over the boundary line is not easy and doesn`t happen frequently!!
Today, it happened and the Maharashtrian opening batsman Ruturaj Gaekwad became the cynosure of many eyes when he created this sensational record.
In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy or VHT match between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh domestic one day match held at Narendra Modi Stadium B ground at Ahmedabad, Ruturaj smashed an unbelievable 43 runs off just 6 legal balls. Uttar Pradesh Shiva Singh was the bowler who bowled the 49th over.
Finally, Ruturaj scored 220 runs not out in just 159 balls. He also smashed 10 fours and 16 huge sixers total today. This is Ruturaj Gaekwad`s first ever double ton and his highest score in List A or domestic one day career. Maharashtra in their 50 overs made 330 for the loss of 5 wickets.
The superb piece of information is that Ruturaj now holds the record for most runs scored in a single over that was previously held by Elton Chigumbara of Zimbabwe. It must be recalled that in 2013 Chigumbara scored 39 runs in a single over and grabbed many eyeballs.
