Sudden stoppage of vehicles on the Chennai-Trichy NH?

Passengers and motorists coming from Trichy to Chennai were taken by surprise yesterday!!
The traffic was brought to standstill on the highly busy Chennai-Trichy National Highway yesterday. The reason for that was due to the heavy rains plus an accident involving a government bus at Madurantakam. As the weekend was over, many vehicles returned to Chennai yesterday. It is learnt that the vehicular traffic yesterday on the Chennai-Trichy NH was more when compared to other days. At many bottlenecks like Perungalathur, Singaperumal Koil, and Kattankulathur etc, the traffic was chaotic.
It must be noted that a bus from Tiruvannamalai to Chennai was hit by a truck and the damaged vehicles were not taken from the road. This has led to long queuing of vehicles for about 3kms. It is worthy to mention here that the poor management of the traffic at Perungalathur delayed the return journeys of many motorists
