Superb news about the new desalination plant at Nemmeli!!

With a capacity to treat 150 MLD of saline water per day, the new desalination plant at Nemmeli in Chennai would begin functioning from April 2023. By June, the supply of portable water would begin. An amount of Rs 1516.8 crores has been spent to set up this new desalination plant at Nemmeli.
It is now said that 9lakhs of residents in localities in Chennai such as Ullagaram- Puzhuthivakkam, parts of Velachery, Madipakkam, Sholinganallur, St Thomas Mount, Medavakkam, Kovilambakkam, Nanmangalam, Keelkattalai, parts of Pallavaram, all added areas of GCC plus IT sector companies etc. It was explained by a senior engineer from Metro Water that CMWSSB would extend its supply to the residents of Chennai.
It is learnt that now work on erecting RO Membrane Is going on and soon the authorities would be laying the pipelines to bring in seawater.
