Those who travel between Bengaluru and Chennai often have now got a reason to rejoice!!
It would take only 2 hours and 15 minutes to zip at speed of 120kmph from Bengaluru to Chennai from March 2024 onwards. This was according to Mr Nitish Gadkari, Union transport minister.
Yesterday the minister was busy inspecting the new 8 lane 262km Bengaluru- Chennai expressway at Vadaganahalli located on the Bengaluru outskirts. The expressway was constructed at a massive amount of Rs 16730 crores and it would pass through states like Karnataka, AP and TN etc. Information is that more than 35% of the works have been completed till now.The Union transport minister referred to this expressway as the highway of development.
Advantages of the upcoming expressway:
In addition to the fuel costs, the logistics cost would be reduced by 4% to 6% with this new expressway. There would also be direct connectivity between the east and west coasts. The existing distance of 300km between Bengaluru and Chennai would be cut to 263km by this expressway.
The Union transport minister was concerned that to get the clearances a long time is being taken now. He assured that he would request the CM of Karnataka to get all the necessary permissions as soon as possible.
