Yesterday, 10th January 2023, Mr. Udayanidhi Stalin inaugurated the 2330 buses and workshops  under the Nirbhaya scheme plus surveillance cameras installed in the bus stands etc. He also inaugurated the Integrated Command and Control Centre that has been set up at a cost of Rs 4.72 crores.

A press release was issued by the TN govt yesterday and according to that under the Nirbhaya scheme of both central and state governments regarding the welfare and safety of women and children cameras have been installed in 2500 buses and at 66 places lie workshops, bus stands etc at a cost of Rs 72 .75 cr. Truth is that currently this scheme has been started in 63 places like 2330 buses, workspots and bus stations etc. In 2330 buses belonging to the City Transport Corporation, there would be a mobile network video recorder, 3 surveillance cameras, 4 emergency buttons and loudspeaker etc in each bus.

Emergency situations:

It is mentioned that in the buses installed with this important scheme the women and children travelling could press a button during the times of emergency etc. By this, a sound would come out and driver, conductor and passengers would be alerted. Not only that, a one minute display would automatically go to the Integrated Command and Control Centre. It would be analysed and the incident would be confirmed and then Chennai metropolitan police control centre would be informed. Important persons who took part in the inauguration function yesterday were ministers Mr. Sivashankar, Mr. k. Gopal transport dept secretary etc.
