From Triconamalee in Sri Lanka, a French flag cruise ship MV LE CHAMPLAIN arrived at the Chennai port. This ship had as many as 118 crew members and 108 passengers. It is now said that this ship would go to Trincomalee on Wednesday.
The passengers are very much interested to see various places in Chennai city like St Fort George Museum, Santhome Cathedral, Kapaleeswarar Temple, Dakshin Chitra etc.
The chairman of Chennai port authority, Mr Sunil Paliwal spoke about the importance of the port and its role in promoting international tourism in India. He added that both Central as well as the state governments have undertaken various facilitating measures. He hinted that the Vessel Agent GAC Shipping India Pvt Limited and other agencies have also played their part effectively.
Coronavirus pandemic has affected the lives of many from 2020 onwards. Now, the arrival of a modernised cruise terminal from Sri Lanka would pave the way for more cruise vessels coming to the Chennai port in the future.
