This piece of news would make many flight passengers in Chennai feel delighted!!
From the month of March onwards, CMRL or Chennai Metro Rail Limited would introduce airport check-in facilities at some selected metro stations in Chennai on trial basis. The main purpose of this would be to integrate various modes of transport. This was pointed out by Mr. Sharad Kumar, airport director. In a meeting that took place between CMRL officials and airlines including Air India, IndiGo, Vistara etc.
According to a release, the airport check-in facility would be available on a trial basis at some metro stations in Chennai that have maximum demand for the commuters going to the airport. By this the rush before the departure would be brought down easily and would also reduce the burden of the airport staff etc. It would help the passengers to reach the airport on time to board the flight.
From 14th April that is on Tamil New Year`s day, the facility would be rolled into a full fledged way. This would be done after doing feasibility study plus necessary checks, mandatory clearances and approval from the authorities etc. More metro stations in the future would have the facility depending on the passengers demand.
