The Chennai residents must thank the workers belonging to the Chennai Corporation now!!

The beaches in chennai have now become very neat and clean and this was mainly due to the hard efforts of these workers who have worked overtime in the festival days. The surprising news sithat these workers have cleared about 235 tonnes of wastes from the beaches. There was waste like glass, plastic wrappers plus others like plantain leaves etc on these beaches.

Five sand sweeping machines have been deployed by the GCC in the beaches like Marina, Besant Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Akkarai and Palavakkam etc. For clearing the waste present on the beaches, the 15 workers from the corporption worked from 4pm in the evening till late night.

It is noteworthy that these 15 workers from GCC check and put fines on those who throw waste on the beach. This was as per the GCC Commissioner Mr. Gagandeep Sing Bedi sir. He added that these workers have been doing superb work and their work is being reviewed every fortnight in the meetings. The garbage gets sucked by the machines and sand is left behind and the machines were used in the nights.

Ranking competition:

It must be noted that to keep the workers enthused GCC has set up fortnightly ranking competition across zones and awarded officers who had kept the beaches clean and neat. It is noteworthy that the Marina Beach comes under zone 9 teynampet, Besant Nagar beach under zone 13 Adyar, ECR beaches shared between Perungudi and Sholinganallur zones.

In addition to the collection of waste from the beaches, the workers have also collected 202 tonnes of waste from the Bhogi festival. This was highlighted by the chief engineer of GCC Mr. Mahesan. He concluded that the unburnt waste present was handed over to the corporation workers in the early morning.
