Developing hyperloop, air taxis etc - IIT-Madras as a hub for future mobility platforms!!

With Tata Steel setting up a Center for Innovation in Mobility in IITM campus, the premier educational and research institute in India could become a hub in developing future mobility platforms such as hyperloop, air-taxis etc.

Recently, a memorandum of understanding or MOU was signed between Tata Steel and TuTr hyperloop. The main aim was to develop and deploy hyperloop technology in the IITM campus.

It must be taken into note that hyperloop is a proposed high speed transportation system for both public as well as goods transport. There are 3 essential elements like tubes, pods and terminals present in the hyperloop systems. Truth is that the hyperloop concept has been promoted by Elon Musk and spaceX and various other companies etc.

According to VP Technology & New Material Business, Tata Steel, Mr. Debashish Bhattacharjee, the centre for innovation and mobility was the first of Tata Steels multiple planned satellite research and technology development centres in focussed, future relevant areas.

Point is that these satellite centres would be co-located with academics and/or customers. He threw light on how CIM in the research park in IIT-M would concentrate on developing multi material design and manufacturing solutions for mobility such as hyperloop and air taxis etc.
