The low-pressure format which developed over the Bay of Bengal has transformed into a cyclonic format! As such, a warning has been given to the delta districts with prospects for very heavy rain.
In a notification released in this regard released by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre yesterday (Sunday, 29th January), it is mentioned:
"A dry climate prevailed in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry yesterday (Sunday, 29th January). As of yesterday morning, there were no rains in any region over the previous 24 hours. There are prospects for medium rain in the Coastal Districts of Tamil Nadu and the adjacent districts today and tomorrow.
The low-pressure format which developed over the Indian Ocean has transformed into a deep depression zone. This will drift towards the Sri Lanka coast by tomorrow.
Due to this, there are prospects for widespread medium rain in the southern districts and a few places in Puducherry.
There are prospects for heavy rain in 1 or 2 places day-after-tomorrow *Wednesday) in the districts of Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagappattinam, Ramanathapuram, and Thoothukkudi!
On 2nd February, there are prospects for widespread medium rain in the southern districts and 1 or 2 places in the Northern Districts. There are prospects for heavy rains in Thoothukkudi, Kanyakumari and Thirunelveli.
As regards Chennai Metro City, the sky will remain somewhat cloudy. Here are prospects for mild rain in a few places. The maximum temperature will be 31 Degrees Celsius.
Warning:
High-speed winds at 65 kmph will likely blow across the Southwest Bay of Bengal adjacent to Sri Lanka, the Andaman Sea and the Southeast Bay of Bengal from today (Monday, 30th January) until 2nd February.
High-speed winds at 55 kmph are likely to blow across the South Bay of Bengal, Bay of Mannar, and Kanyakumari Ocean, As such, the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has warned that fishermen MUST NOT VENTURE INTO THE SEA IN THESE AREAS!
