The movie halls across TN must be monitored and this must be continued. This was as per a new order from the HC of Madras to the TN govt. It must be noted that a case was filed by Mr. G. Devarajan regarding fixing the upper limit for the cinema tickets at the theatres in TN. Justice Anitha Sumanth passed an order on the plea moved by Mr. Devarajan.

Mr. Devarajan wanted the High Court to take action against theatres for overcharging for 3 films Kabali, Singham and Bhairavaa. He spoke about how the purpose of fixing the upper limits for tickets was to make sure that the people had access to the entertainment at reasonable rates. He wanted the provision to be implemented and not remain in the paper.

It is noteworthy that the TN govt has informed the HC of Madras that the rules empower the licensing authority to fix the minimum and maximum rates of  admission of each class in air-conditioned and non-air conditioned movie halls and multiplexes in TN. It is known that according to 2015 GO, the maximum ticket rate a theatre could charge is Rs 120 per ticket. Truth is that IMAX theatres are exceptions to the ceiling limits and they could charge Rs 480 per ticket.
