This has happened at RGGGH in Chennai for the first time!!

A fifty one year old patient from Erode in TN has become a cynosure of many eyes now!!
At the famous RGGGH in Chennai, a liver transplant surgery was performed on this patient and this is the first time a liver transplant was carried out in RGGGH.
It must be recalled that Rela Hospitals has signed MOU with 5 hospitals like RGGGH, SMCH, Madurai Govt General Hospital, Coimbatore Govt General Hospital and Egmore Children`s Hospital for liver transplant. At a cost of Rs 4 cr, the operation theatre was prepared for the liver transplantation.
World class medical equipment was imported from foreign nations and installed in the operation theatre. On 10th February 2023, the patient from erode underwent successful liver transplant surgery under the CMCHIS. It must be noted that the first liver transplant was performed at the SMCH in Chennai. Till now as many as 1505 liver transplantation operations have been done since the inception of transplant authority in TN.
