National law school inaugurated by the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa

Tamil Nadu Law School at Srirangam was inaugurated yesterday by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa through video-conferencing from the Secretariat here, in the presence of Acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court Rajesh Kumar Agarwal. The Rs 100 Crore law school was set up in a 25 acre campus, following a decision taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Jayalalithaa in July 2011. The foundation stone was laid by the Chief Minister in February 2012.

Chief Justice of the Madras High Court will be the Chancellor of the school, while the State Law Minister will be the Pro-Chancellor.

The institution has been set up with all modern amenities, including class rooms, seminar halls, hostels, bank, post office etc. 100 students will be admitted to the school in 2013-`14.

After inaugurating the institution, the Chief Minister presented admission letters to seven students, while the Chief Justice presented the letters to five students. High Court Judges, Ministers, Chief Secretary and others were present.
