Falling on line with New Delhi, the Tamil Nadu Government has decided to fix Rs 25 as minimum auto fare in Tamil Nadu. The official announcement regarding this will be made today because the Honourable Supreme Court deadline for implementing new auto fares in the state draws close on Monday.
The state government had decided to fix Rs 25 as minimum fare for first two kms, but did not reveal the fare structure for the subsequent kilometers. Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in order to discuss this issue had convened a meeting in which chief secretary Sheela Balakrishnan, home Secretary Niranjan Mardi, besides three senior ministers and transport Minister Senthil Balaji participated.
