Chennai Corporation Announces Rs. 360 Crore Plan to Upgrade Citys Infrastructure

Chennai Corporation has announced a massive plan to upgrade the city`s infrastructure with a budget of Rs. 360 crore.

  • A new eco-park will be set up at a cost of Rs 50 crore on the reclaimed site of the Perungudi garbage dump complex.
  • At a cost of Rs.20 crore, water bodies will be reconstructed in 4 mandals in Chennai.
  • New community welfare centers will be set up at 7 locations in Chennai at a cost of Rs.35 crore.
  • 50 parks and 10 sports grounds will be set up in Chennai at a cost of Rs.30 crore.
  • Puliyur canal in Chennai will be reconstructed at a cost of Rs.14 crore.
  • Modern gas incineration platforms will be set up at 15 locations in Chennai at a cost of Rs 25 crore.
  • Thelkappia Park will be upgraded at a cost of Rs.48 crore.
  • Allocation of Rs.50 crore to prevent mixing of waste water in 23 places in Koovam river.
  • 300 MLD & 14 MLD drinking water treatment plants located at Puzhal and Surapat will be reconstructed at a cost of Rs.40 crore.
  • 20 km at Rs.20 crore. Sewage pipes in Kolathur will be upgraded along the way.
  • At Rs 18 crore, construction of 10 MLD downstream reservoir tank, 3 MLD upstream reservoir tank and pipelines to 25 missing streets will be taken up in Korukuppet.
  • Main sewerage pipes will be upgraded at Chennai Corporation Works at a cost of Rs.5 crore.
  • Chennai Corporation EVK Construction of road side sewage plant on Sampath road and installation of pipeline up to Purasaivakkam sewage plant will be done at an estimated cost of Rs.5 crore.
  • The corporation plans to spend Rs.360 crore to upgrade Chennai`s infrastructure, which will benefit the citizens of Chennai and improve their quality of life.
