On 10th and 11th april 2023, all the government hospitals present in Chennai would be conducting mock drills. This would be as per the instructions given by the officials belonging to the state health dept. Now, the number of patients getting treatment for Covis-19 in these hospitals is low. If there is an increase in the new Covid-19 cases, then these government hospitals would be ready with their Covid-19 wards and ICU etc.

Dean of SMCH, Dr. P. Balaji mentioned that out of  14 Covid-19 cases just 2 were hospitalised. He added that despite being old these 2 patients were having normal health.  He concluded that despite an increase in the Covid cases the number of hospitalisations have not increased. There are as many as 400 special beds in the Covid ward in SMCH in Chennai. The SMCh is getting prepared for the mock drill in the coming days. It was later brought out by some authorities from RGGGH in Chennai that the number of hospitalisations have not increased.

Medical superintendent of TN Govt Multispeciality Hospital, Omandurar, Dr. P. Mgesh spoke about how there was infrastructure available to scale up the facilities anytime. He hinted that the number of hospitalisations is low. It is learnt that tehn healthcare workers would be given demonstrations about how to handle if there was a sudden increase in the Covid cases. Now, there is just 2percent to 3percent of the patients in the hospitals for treatment for Covid 19.

As per the dean of Chengalpet medical college, Dr. Narayana Swami it was clear that they have been asked to prepare for the mock drill. It is important to mention here that the government hospitals present in places like Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur etc were also asked to ensure adequate availability of medical supplies, drugs and oxygen supply etc.
