Due to the recent successive holidays, there has been an increasing trend in the number of devotees visiting the Tirupathi temple to have the darshan of their favourite Lord Sri Venkateswara in the last few weeks.
However, due to the surge of devotees who come for darshan without tokens from the counters for free darshan, all the halls in the Sri Vaikuntam Complex on the mountain are filled with devotees waiting for darshan of Lord Sri Venkateswara. As a result, with waiting rooms full, the devotees are waiting outside in the scorching sun for a length of 7 kilometres to have darshan.
As the crowd of devotees has increased appreciably, the devotees now need to wait for more than 30 hours for the free darshan. For the Rs. 300/- darshan ticket holders, they need to wait in the queue for 5 hours.
Due to the surge in the number of devotees, the Thirumalai Tirupathi Devasthanam Board has announced that they will not be accepting recommendation letters for VIP darshan from today (Wednesday, 12th April) until the 16th of April (Sunday).
