Know about this new cyber hackathon competition to be conducted by Chennai police dept

These days, many cyber crimes take place in Chennai and some of these cases go unsolved.

The news is that on 5 topics a cyber hackathon competition would be conducted by the Chennai police dept. The main aim of this would be to solve the new types of cyber crime cases. In this competition,m students, professors and IT professionals could take part and this was mentioned by the Chennai police commissioner Mr. Shankar Jiwal.

The use of the internet has become more now with the development of information technology. More crimes are being committed using the internet now. The shocking  piece of information is that the criminals (involved in all types of crimes) hide their identities by making use of the internet and technology. 

The help of modern technology would be needed by the police personnel to catch the criminals. It must be recalled that the Chennai police dept organised a cyber hackathon in the month of December and this was mainly done to find solutions to the emerging cyber based crimes.

Now, the Chennai police dept in association with VIT would be organising a second cyber hackathon. It is now said that the upcoming cyber hackathon would play a role in assisting the investigation of the cyber crime officers.

The 5 topics that would be given to the participants would be identifying crypto currency transaction and  wallet identification, retrieving the information collected from mobile phones, searching for relevant posts in the social media using keywords, identify unusual persons or objects from CCTV footage and send details to the concerned authorities and finally identifying the current location of the callers of Telegram phone etc.

Those who want to participate in this upcoming hackathon would have to register their details using the website link http://vitchennai.acm.org./cyberx.html.

It must be noted that the last date to get registered would be 30-4-2023. Those who can take part are college students, IT professionals, research students, professors etc.

On 19th and 20th May 2023, the finals of the hackathon competition would take place at VIT Chennai. The winners would be awarded  a first prize of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 as the second prize and Rs 20,000 as the third prize.
