CCTV cameras are installed in Railway Stations and train coaches to ensure passenger safety and prevent crimes.

In Southern Railway, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras are installed at important Railway Stations, including Chennai Central, Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Villupuram, Trichy, Madurai, Thirunelveli, Salem, and Coimbatore, for safety and security monitoring.

In addition, CCTVs are also set up in train coaches for monitoring.

Currently, CCTV cameras have been installed in 6,646 train coaches across the 16 Railway Zones throughout India. In Southern Railway, CCTV cameras have been installed in 759 coaches.

Given this situation, the Railway Administration has decided to install CCTV cameras not only inside the train coaches but also at the coach entrances.
