What happened yesterday after 3 years at Tuticorin was really scary?

Yesterday, after 3 long years at the ThalaMuthu Nagar Mottai Gopuram, Rajapalayam, the sea water crossed the shore and went inside the town for about 60 feet. The road was stagnated due to the sudden inflow of sea water here. The fish auction hall as well as temple ete were surrounded by the sea water yesterday. The speed of the waves in the sea was also very high yesterday.
It was brought out by the fisherman that after 3 years the sea is more furious now and major damage has been avoided as it was day time when this incident took place.
