Chennai`s domestic airport is currently experiencing a surge in passenger traffic as many people are traveling abroad for Ramzan and summer holidays. This has led to a significant increase in air ticket fares for flights from Chennai to various destinations such as Thoothukudi, Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Delhi, and Kolkata.
Previously, the regular airfare for a Chennai-Thoothukudi flight was Rs. 3,675. However, it has now increased to Rs. 11,000 to Rs. 14,000. Similarly, the airfare for a Chennai-Madurai flight has increased from Rs. 3,419 to Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 13,000. The airfare for a Chennai-Trichy flight now ranges from Rs. 2,768 to Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 13,000. The Chennai-Coimbatore airfare has also increased from Rs. 3,313 to Rs. 5,500 to Rs. 11,000. Furthermore, the airfare for a Chennai-Delhi flight has increased from Rs. 4,973 to Rs. 8,500 to Rs. 10,000, while the Chennai-Kolkata flight fare has gone up from Rs. 5,309 to Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 15,000.
Airline passengers are shocked by these multifold increases in air ticket fares.
