Plans to increase the number of wards under the Greater Chennai Corporation to 230!

The State Government of Tamil Nadu has released a new set of rules in an act named "Rules for Tamil Nadu Local Administration 2023". According to the act, if the population of the Local Administration or Corporation exceeds 80 lakhs, there may be up to 230 councilors.
Based on this provision, the government of Tamil Nadu plans to increase the number of wards in accordance with the population. It intends to conduct an all-party review meeting on this issue before increasing the number of wards.
