Who would have thought that one day the cut-off marks for joining BCom degree courses would become 100percent?

This has happened now and is making sensational news. Recently, the class 12 public examination results came out. Many students scored centums in subjects like Economics and Commerce etc and it caught the attention of many.

The news now is that as many students scored centums in the above said subjects the cut-off marks for the open category has increased to 100% in the popular colleges in Chennai. This was according to the first merit list that was released yesterday. The truth is that even the students who have scored high marks would not be able to join top colleges in the city. Now, the students are in a shocked state.

In the popular colleges in Chennai like Ethiraj College and MCC etc, the cut off is 100 percent now. It must be noted that the last students who have applied for BCom degree courses in these 2 above said famous colleges have scored 400 out of 400. There are other famous colleges in Chennai like Loyola College, DG. Vaishnav College etc that have 99% cut-offs now.

It is noteworthy that admission to B.Com degree courses is based on the marks obtained in 4 core subjects.  Even for other categories too, Ethiraj College has got high cutoffs of 99.75% for BC and 99% for SC/ST students.  As per the principal of Ethiraj College,S.  Uma Gowri, it was clear that B.Com honours is one of the most sought after courses in this year. She explained how for that course the students must have studied Business Maths in class 12. Now, as per the directions of HC the condition has been removed and that was the reason for high cutoffs for B.Com degree courses now.

In the Madras Christian College in Tambaram, the cutoffs for B.Com Accounting and Finance in the self financing stream has touched 100%. The principal of MCC Mr Paul Wilson mentioned that the B.Com degree course was one of the most popular programmes in the colleges and the cutoffs would come down in the second merit list.
