In a notification released by the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, it is mentioned:
"The event of the easterly winds and the westerly winds meeting each other is prevailing over the upper layers of the atmosphere in North Tamil Nadu.
Due to this, there are prospects for mild rain with lightning and thunder today (Thursday, 22nd June) in 1 or 2 places. There are prospects for mild rain in 1 or 2 areas on June 23rd, 24th, and 25th.
The maximum rainfall recorded, as of 8.30 AM yesterday (Wednesday, 21st June) in the last 24 hours, is as follows: Thanjavur District Bhoodanur – 7, Nilgiri District Lower Kothagiri Estate – 6, Dharmapuri District Oganekal, Ranippettai District Minnal, and Nagappattinam District Vedaranyam – 5.
High-speed cyclonic winds may blow across at 45-65 kmph in the southern Tamil Nadu coastal areas, the adjacent Kanyakumari Ocean, the South Lanka coastal areas, and the southwest Bay of Bengal.
High-speed winds at 40-55 kmph may blow across the North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Coastal areas, the adjacent Central Bay of Bengal, and the southwest Bay of Bengal."
