The rains that lashed Chennai have made the roads in north Chennai to become slushy and potholed. The residents belonging to the localities likemParrys, Mannadya and Royapuram etc are now annoyed. The recent rains have not spared Bunder Street in Parrys, streets along Wall Tac Road near Mannady and Ramanujam Street in Washermenpet etc.
The garbage thrown by some fruit vendors gets mixed with slush at the Bunder Street opposite to the Flower Bazaar in Parrys. This was revealed by a resident from Parrys. It was later brought out by a resident from Sowcarpet in north Chennai that the situation has been similar to that in the Wall Tax Road and in the nearby streets.
It must be noted that in these streets the Highways dept has been constructing SWD and the roads have not been relaid. The slush present is making the lives of the public very difficult. According to the zonal officer from Royapuram zone it was clear that GCC is estimated to relay 207 roads in the Royapuram zone covering Mannady, Parrys, Royapuram etc.
Ever since the Chennai Corporation dug the Ramanujam Street at Old Washermenpet for SWD, the area has been battered. This was highlighted by a civic activist Mr. R. Ramesh.
