Walking a long distance to attend nature`s call can be highly uncomfortable!!
Many commuters use the suburban railway station present at Moore Market Complex or MMC complex in Chennai as it is an important multimodal transport hub. It is noteworthy that many from the western suburbs and Thiruvallur districts etc come to this railway station and then go to their respective destinations in the city. Here, a public toilet has been closed down for the sake of maintenance works and this has led to the issues to many commuters now. It is known that the MMC suburban railway station is adjacent to Chennai Central railway station.
As the public toilet has been shut down now, the commuters walk a long distance now to attend nature`s call. The commuters are finding it very difficult.
It was revealed by Mr. T. Sadagopan, a social activist, that the railway authorities must provide the commuters with alternate arrangements while carrying out those types of maintenance works etc.
The 3 year term of the contractor maintaining the public toilet has come to an end now and a new contractor has been awarded the contract for the next 10 years. This was explained by a senior officer from the Chennai division of the Southern Railways.
