Chennai Metro Faces Parking Woes: Abandoned Vehicles Double, 160 Unclaimed. Chennai Metro Rail authorities report a significant increase in ridership, leading to a surge in parking demands at stations. However, 160 abandoned vehicles, including 138 two-wheelers, 20 four-wheelers, and two three-wheelers, are occupying precious space.
Despite efforts to reach owners, many vehicles remain unclaimed since the COVID-19 lockdown. Officials plan to involve local police if owners fail to collect their vehicles soon. The implementation of National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) promises a smoother process in the future, facilitating easier communication with vehicle owners through their email and contact details."
