Chennai Metro City Police Commissioner Sandeep Roy Rathore has ordered the cessation of light music being aired on the music signals in the city.
Previously, music was played at 105 significant signal junctions in Chennai Metro City to help vehicle drivers and the public maintain patience and traffic awareness while waiting at the signals. This initiative was introduced on April 6th.
The music played on these signals consisted of film songs broadcasted by FM broadcasters. However, a complaint was received stating that the music was causing distraction to drivers and could potentially lead to accidents.
In response to this concern, Police Commissioner Sandeep Roy Rathore conducted a comprehensive review meeting and subsequently ordered the temporary suspension of the light music and awareness broadcasts on the aforementioned signals.
Following this order, the playing of light music and awareness messages on the aforementioned signals was halted yesterday, on Tuesday, July 4th.
