In a significant move aimed at easing traffic congestion in Chennai`s busy Annasalai area, the Tamil Nadu government has issued a government order granting administrative permission for the construction of a high-level flyover. The flyover, estimated to cost Rs. 621 crore, will span from Thenampet to Saitappet, effectively addressing the daily ordeal faced by lakhs of motorists navigating through the area.
The Annasalai stretch witnesses a heavy influx of vehicles every day, leading to multiple junctions that contribute to severe traffic jams. As a result, commuters heading towards major destinations like Guindy and Thambaram often find themselves stuck for hours in frustrating gridlocks. In response to this pressing issue, the Tamil Nadu government had announced its plans during the last budget to construct a high-level flyover to alleviate the traffic woes and streamline the flow of vehicles.
The proposed flyover will strategically cover critical junctions along the route, including Eldams Road Junction, S.I.E.T. College Road Junction, Senedap Junction, Nandanam Junction, and C.I.T. The flyover is intended to offer a seamless journey for motorists, allowing them to bypass these congested intersections and finally land near the Saitappettai bus stand.
With the administrative approval now in place, the project is set to move forward, providing much-needed relief to commuters and making daily travel a smoother and more efficient experience. The investment of Rs. 621 crore into this vital infrastructure is expected to bring about a transformative change in Chennai`s traffic landscape and enhance overall transportation convenience for residents and visitors alike.
