Prospects for rain for 6 days from today (14th July) in Tamil Nadu!

There are prospects of rain for 6 days starting from today (Friday, 14th July) in Tamil Nadu.

In a notification released by the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, it is mentioned:

"A cyclonic formation is prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the central-west Bay of Bengal and the adjacent southwest Bay of Bengal. Due to this phenomenon, as well as changes in the wind speed of the westerly wind blowing towards Tamil Nadu, there are prospects of mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder today (Friday, 14th July) in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Similarly, there are prospects of mild to medium rain from 15th July until 19th July.

Chennai Metro City and its suburbs will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. There are prospects of mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in Chennai Metro City.

27 cm of rainfall was recorded in Manampoondi!

As of 8.30 AM yesterday (Thursday, 13th July), the maximum rainfall recorded in centimeters was as follows: Villupuram District - Manampoondi: 27, Soorappattu: 21, Mugaiyur: 20, Kedar: 15, Vellore: 9, Mundiambakkam: 8, Kallakkurichi District - Manalurpettai: 7, Villupuram District - Marakkanam, Anandapuram, Vellore District - Virinjipuram: 6 each.

High-speed cyclonic winds at 45 to 65 kmph are likely to blow across the South Tamil Nadu coastal areas, Bay of Mannar, its adjacent Kanyakumari Ocean, and the Sri Lanka coastal area."
