In anticipation of the upcoming weekend and an auspicious day (Muhurtha Naal), the State Transport Department has taken proactive measures to accommodate the expected surge in passenger travel to and from Chennai. According to an official release, it is estimated that a substantial number of passengers will be traveling on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, coinciding with the auspicious day.
To address this increased demand and ensure smooth transportation, the State Transport Department has announced the operation of 600 special buses. Among them, 300 special buses will be deployed from Chennai, while the remaining 300 buses will be operated from major cities such as Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Trichy, Salem, and Bengaluru.
The Department has also assured passengers that additional special buses will be operated as per requirements, primarily to facilitate those returning to Chennai and Bengaluru. Officials have urged travelers to avail online ticket booking facilities to ensure a seamless and hassle-free journey.
As of now, a remarkable response has been seen, with a total of 9,298 passengers already booking their tickets in advance.
In a bid to ensure the efficient management of these special bus operations, officers will be stationed at various bus stands to streamline the process and assist travelers as needed.
