Popular artist & Kalaimamani award winner Maruthi passed away yesterday

Mr. Ranganathan, an artist and illustrator, popularly known as Maruthi passed away on Thursday at the age of 86. It is important to note that his works are present in various magazines and books etc
After moving to Chennai from Pudukottai, he started his career by drawing cinema posters and this caught the attention of many. Information is that his first illustration was published in the famous Tamil magazine Kumudham. Especially his women and female illustrations (that were like real illustrations) accompanied stories and articles etc were appreciated by many.
Novels that were written by popular novelists like Sujatha, Balakumaran and Jayakanthan etc had illustrations of Mr. Maruthi on their covers. Truth is that this Kalaimamani award winner Maruthi has made his presence felt in former CM of TN Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi films in the past. Rest in peace sir!!
