The price of tomato has touched Rs. 150/- per kg at the wholesale vegetable, fruits and flower supermarket at Koyambedu. However, as tomatoes are being sold for Rs. 60/- per kg in the Green Farm Shops, the public visit these shops, stand in long queues and buy the tomatoes from these Green Farm Shops.
The price of tomatoes has touched a peak throughout the country in the last 2 months! Being sold at a price of over Rs. 100/- per kg over the last 1 month at the Koyambedu wholesale vegetable, fruits and flower supermarket at Koyambedu, tomatoes were sold for Rs. 150/- per kg yesterday (Sunday, 30th July).
Generally, tomatoes are transported in Lorries from the border districts of the states of Karnataka and Andhra to the Koyambedu wholesale vegetable, fruit, and flower supermarket.
The traders inform that as tomatoes from these states are now being transported to other states in India as well, the price of tomatoes has shot up!
