Navigating Traffic Diversions: Chennais 4th International Artist Memorial Marathon, August 6th, 2027

Chennai is all set to host the 4th International Artist Memorial Marathon on Sunday, August 6th, 2027, starting at 4:00 AM and concluding at 11:00 AM. The marathon will feature four segments covering distances of 5 km, 10 km, 21.1 km, and 42.2 km. All segments will commence from Anna Memorial at Marina Beach and culminate at Island Stadium. In light of this event, Chennai Metropolitan Traffic Police has implemented traffic diversions on August 6th, 2023, from 3:00 AM to 11:00 AM as outlined below.
1. Vehicles originating from Rajaji Road will be prohibited from passing through the RBI Tunnel. Instead, these vehicles are advised to make a right turn at Paris Corner, proceed via NFS Muthuchami Bridge, Walaja Road, and Point, and continue on Annasalai to their intended destination.
2. The right-hand road from Walaja Point to Annasilai Junction will function as a two-way road. Entry onto Walaja Road from Annasila is prohibited. Affected vehicles can reach their destinations via Periyar idol and Pata junction.
3. Entry onto Kamaraj Road from Bharti Road, Dr. Besant Road, and Lloyds Road will be restricted. Vehicles in this category will be rerouted via Ice Outs Junction and Ratna Cafe, with access granted to Drakta Natesan Road.
4. Vehicles arriving from Santhome Highway can take a detour at the Santhome Highway x Karaneeswarar Pakoda Street junction. They should proceed via Dr. Natesan Road, Dr. Radhakrishnan Road, and Karaneeswarar Pakoda Street to reach their destinations.
5. For vehicles traveling from the Music Academy towards Gandhi Statue, a U-turn can be made at VM Road Junction. Subsequently, the route should proceed through Rayapetta Highway, Las Corner, Ramakrishna Math Road, and VM Road to reach the desired destination.
6. Heavy vehicles approaching Annasalai are not permitted from Spencer Junction to Annasalai. Instead, these vehicles are advised to utilize Binny Road and Marshall Road from Spencer Junction to reach their destinations.
