In connection with the celebrations of the 76th Independence Day, Rotary Club of Madras Gold Coast organized a blood Donation Camp and Organ Donation Camp on Sunday (August 13th) at 10 am at Tambaram Medical Center premises. President Dr.Snehalatha Krishnamurthy Secretary Vijayalakshmi Rajesh, Community Services Health Director Offerin participated in this.
Rotary Club District Governor Mr. Ravi Raman said, "Though this is a new club, they are doing big projects. We had collected about 200 units of blood today and similarly we are going to conduct 25 camps in this district this month. We expect many units of blood to be collected," he said.
Mr. Saravanan, District Governor Elect said, "The basis of Rotary is to do good for the community and help a lot of people. There are more than 120 clubs in this district. One of them is the Gold Coast Rotary Club in Chennai. We conducted this Blood Donation Camp on the basis of doing good to the people. A lot of people willingly donate blood. We conduct this blood donation camp as an example of how beneficial blood donation is to the public and our family members. A lot of people will benefit from this. We conduct such Camps so that this society can benefit," he said.
Dr.Snehalatha Krishnamurthy, President of Tambaram Gold Coast Rotary Club, said, `Apart from a Blood Donation Camp at Tambaram Medical Center, an organ donation drive is also taking place. Interested people are volunteering to donate blood. But there are certain procedures for Organ Donation. Applications have been completed for those interested. We have organized this event in view of our Independence Day," he said.
Vijayalakshmi, Secretary of Madras Gold Coast Rotary Club, said, " More than 100 people came for Blood Donation and around 25 people have come for Organ Donation. A person has also signed up for whole body Donation. On the occasion of the 76th Independence Day, Madras Gold Coast Rotary Club Atma Blood Camp and Tambaram Medical Center had organized this event," he said.
