In a notification released by Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, it is mentioned:
"Due to the prevailing cyclonic pattern in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the Tamil Nadu region, there are prospects for mild to moderate rain with lightning and thunder today (Wednesday, 16th August) in a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
Regarding the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs, the sky will remain partly cloudy in the next 48 hours. There are prospects for mild rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the city.
The maximum temperature will be 36 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will be 25 degrees Celsius.
Warning for fishermen:
Since high-speed winds are likely to blow at 40-45 kmph, intermittently reaching 55 kmph in the southeastern Bay of Bengal regions and the adjacent central-west Bay of Bengal regions, fishermen are warned not to venture into the sea in these areas!"
