Vallam Vadagal near Sriperumbudur would become an important place in the future!!
As a part of National Defense Testing Infrastructure team or NDTIS,The TN govt on Wednesday, 16th August announced a plan to set up India`s first integrated Unmanned Aerial Systems or UAS/ drone testing centre at Sriperumbudur near Chennai. This would make TN self reliant in areas like aerospace and defense etc.
Testing facility and its location etc:
It is learnt that the testing facility would be set up at a cost of Rs 45 cr over an area of about 2.3 acres on SIPCOT Industrial Park, Vallam Vadagal near Sriperumbudur. Information collected is that not only UAS would be tested here but also electromagnetic compatibility or electromagnetic interference EMI/EMC and other electronic warfare systems.
Under India`s Defense Testing Infrastructure Scheme or DTIS, TIDCO or Tamil Nadu`s nodal investment agency would set up this centre. It is known that DTIS was formulated to help the defense industry to have easy access to the testing facilities.
